hey friends! sorry.. i havent been updating since i got here coz my internet connection wasn't up. but i finally got the important stuffs done. so i guess im pretty much settled in. the weather in london is pretty cold now.. and it's only autumn. so when winters come.. i think i'll be dead. and i realised that if you want to live comfortably in london, you have to think of pounds as dollars. haha. but groceries here such as bread and milk are really cheap.. even cheaper than singapore! and the marks & spencer here are huge. there are 'food only' outlets of M & S and there's this M & S that has 3 levels. Benjy's is like everywhere and Tesco and Saintsbury are my best friend now. and HMV sells dvds at like 5 pounds. so you can imagine how fun it is to shop in London. Of course... no one can afford to shop in London everyday.

Basically.. many of us singaporeans here at lse are acting like tourits.. visiting a new place everyday. i've been to leicester square, russel square, chinatown, covent garden, tralfagar square and i should be going to see the tower bridge later!!!! aint we acting like "bloody tourists"? hahaha. the brits here are really cute and they will go like "thanks darling" or "that's lovely". and when you hold the door for them, the cool ones will go "cheers mate". hahaha. as meiting puts it, the british accent is sexy!!

oh.. lse is really pretty. it is located near the high court and british museum. and it looks like a financial area or something. when i get my hands on my bro's digicam i shall take some shots of lse and show it to you guys. i promise you it's nothing like nus or ntu.

i guess that's it for now coz i got to go for my induction meeting later. missing you guys here in london. take care and i'll be back before you know it!

5 more days before i leave for london. have been busy packing and unpacking my luggage.. meeting up with old friends and eating. yes. eating. i've been loading myself with sugars, fats and calories. im like a dessert monster. i have been eating the leftover desserts from the housewarming party on sunday for breakfast the past 2 days. and when i meet my friends.. we eat desserts. and when i watch soccer with bro, we snack on chips. during dinner, we eat the leftover meat from the party. oh no. im like eating from the top section of the food pyramid. haha. im gonna fly to london as a pig. no no no. ok stop eating! ok.. for the next 5 days... i shall be disciplined. i must!!

quote of the day

me: "im turning from a pig to a rhino"

dii: "hahah that means there'll be more of you to love"

3:00 PM

yesterday was a pretty eventful day for me. caught Be With Me with Meiting. haven't watched such a good movie for a long time. the film is made in such a way where the plot revolves around the narrator's life story with 3 other short stories. the film is shot in a similar way as Love Actually, and the narrator only appears half way through the movie. and that's when Meiting started tearing. I could sense my vision blurring as tears starts to form towards the end of the movie. but im managed to maintain my composure. Be With Me is like a "silent movie", where expressions are used instead of words to convey the characters' innermost feelings. thus full concentration is required. It's a pity that I didn't have my specs with me, cos i couldn't make out half of words from the subtitles. what a pity. I shan't discuss much about the film since most people haven't watched it.

after the movie, we shopped around before heading back to my place for my party. my bro decided to have a costume party, and i decided to combine my farewell party with it. my theme was retro! but i couldn't be bothered to do my hair and thus it didn't look convincing. my bro's friend was like "what are you?". Bro was the playboy who looked like he was "raped". The party was pretty fun cos we had a devil, a french maid, a painter, a chinese waitress, a rebellious school girl, a rapper, 2 mad scientists, a chemistry teacher, a racer couple (super cool!) and 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. but most of my friends didn't dress up and bro and his friends were disappointed. worse still.. a few of my invited friends didn't turn up. sigh. (sumin are you reading this?! haha.) i guess it's partly because they didn't wanna dress up.

hmm... there's 2 more weeks before i leave for London. better play as much as i can now!

for a moment i was sitting down staring at the keyboard, thinking of what to type in this entry. i don't think you really wanna know what i did today. because i stayed at home the entire day and waited for my visa. i decided to pay that $15 and let them send it to me. im done with going all the way down to Robinson Road only to be rejected by the officers. perhaps that's not exactly the smartest idea, because the lady who called me yesterday told me that it would be delivered to me between 10 am to 5 pm. so tada! there goes my day. (and the delivery came only at 4.30pm) to make things worse, my original certificate of acceptance was badly crumpled. (i should really try ironing it). no smart person would put a piece of paper and a passport into a flimsy envelope and have them mailed. surely he/she would realised that the paper would not be supported by that 2mm thick of plastic sheet. besides, the passport adds weight to the "envelope" and thus create a "load" in the package, making the flimsy envelope "sag". and i dont think the postman will place it neatly into his delivery box. he probably just tossed it into the back of his bike. and so i got my package in which i received my passport which has a receipt stapled to it and my crumpled cert. and i paid $15 for that service.

oh well.. at least i got my visa. and there's still much more things to settle.

9:59 PM

I finally met up with the LSE pple. there's actually quite a number of Singaporeans going to LSE. most of them are pretty fun loving and friendly.. at least for those who turned up yesterday for the dinner. I kinda regret not turning up for the induction and camp. but it really wasn't my fault. i had to move house on the day of the induction and i didn't know how to sign up for the camp. ok that's quite loser. but im glad i went for the dinner yesterday. was feeling so awkward before that and i was contemplating not turning up for the dinner. luckily huifang persuaded me to go. made quite a lot of friends but i realised only 3 pple are staying at high holborn! sigh.

went to UK bound after dinner. it was held at double o. my virgin clubbing experience! pretty fun i would say. drank and danced. but i admit my dance moves sucks. was getting a little high. but i can hold my liqour pretty well.. so despite all the drinks mixing.. im still sober. im not sure if i would go clubbing again.. but i would say it was a good experience. i guess the company made a huge difference. i hope there would be another LSE gathering before we leave =)
