for love of the game
It's pretty ironic that I actually went to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea vs Wycombe in the Carling Cup semis, since Arsenal is still in the competition and that we would probably meet Chelsea in the finals. Despite being surrounded by a sea of blue fans, I was there as a supporter of goals, and secretly hoping that Wycombe would play for a draw so that the match will reach penalty kicks (although that would mean staying out in the cold for at least an hour more).
I actually quite a fan of Andriy Shevchenko and Frank Lampard (though his world cup performance turned me off totally). Shevchenko is obviously a wasted talent at Stamford Bridge. His anticipation and positioning is really good, but too bad the lousy wingers, oh wait, i meant the central midfielders, can't spot his perfect-timed run. It's a pity that Robben isn't even on the bench and it seems like the rest of the team is just there to make up the numbers. 'Rugby boy' Petr Cech was hardly tested by Wycombe, which was such a pity as Philip was telling me that he can't decide who is worse, Hilario or the current Cech. It would have been interesting to see him dive for some shots and jump for some corners while minding his helmet.
The game ended 4-0 to Chelsea, and I'm glad that the 4 goals came from the 2 players that I went to watch the match for. Right now I'm really looking forward to watching Brazil vs Portugal at Emirates Stadium next month.

I wanted to start reading on microeconomics before going to watch THE BIG MATCH at o neills. Obviously i got bored after 2 pages.. coz choices under uncertainty is not exactly a very interesting topic. and next up is general equilibrium. gross. sometimes i wonder why do i buy textbooks when i hardly touch them. that sound pretty disasterous. sigh. im so glad that im finally done with project and the presentation slides for tmr. somehow this week felt longer than usual.
im supposed to blog about the musical, and honestly there's nothing much to say about it except that it was a job well done. the orchestra was impressive, the actors gave their all and not forgetting the technical crew. i think the backstage crew are the ones who really should be praised, because they are the ones who really made the musical possible.
anw.. i went for a friend's 21st birthday recentely and somehow i cant help but feel that im in a way 1 year behind others.. though age doesnt really matter at this point in time. And as more 21st birthday invitations starts coming up, i can't help but feel that im already 21.

The Die Hard Fan
Emirates stadium is absolutely gorgeous and ginormous. I can truly understand why Arsene Wenger has been keeping with the tight budget the last few seasons. It's simply breath-taking. Now i just can't wait to get into the stands and watch a match. Oh my gosh imagine Henry sprints down the sideline and van persie does his trademark left-foot shot. Anyone knows of any arsenal season ticket holder?
This poster was taken from The Armoury and I think it's really cool. I wonder where is Theo Walcott. Haha.
I can't wait for the Brazil vs Portgual match already. 2nd best seats!! Imagine Henry is just at the stand opposite me.

Reflections
2006 ended with me hitting the big 2-0 quietly. I guessed the excitement of turning a year older was lost a few years ago... and probably after my 25th birthday I would either stop celebrating birthdays or put myself into denial that I'm forever 25.
I'm glad that right now I don't have to worry about losing hair or reducing those fine lines that one day would appear on my face. But I do know that if I stress myself into worrying about non-existing problems and put myself into 'quarter-life crisis', I would really have to start considering hair implants as well as spending hundreds every month on SK-II.
I guess the best way to start a new year is to not set resolutions if you know you wont make them happen. Stop bringing forward past year resolutions but rather set realistic goals for ourselves. The key to having a great year ahead is to "keep the old and welcome the new". Let's all learn to bury the hatchet and forgive and forget. Leave the sadness with 2006 and look ahead to 2007. No one knows what the future beholds for us.
